The UC Davis Coastal Oceanography Group (COG) maintains a growing network of real-time ocean observing systems beyond the Bodega Ocean Observing Node (BOON). These additional observing networks that provide continuous measurements of waves, water levels, and water temperature in coastal and estuarine environments throughout California. These systems support scientific research, coastal management, navigation, recreation, public safety, and long-term monitoring of California's changing coastal ocean.
Explore our additional real-time observing networks below:
Real-Time Wave Buoys Along the North Coast
Real-time wave height, period, direction, and water temperature from wave buoys deployed in partnership with coastal communities, marine sanctuaries, and research organizations.
California Real-Time Estuarine Water Level Network
A statewide network of real-time water level and water temperature stations located in California estuaries and sheltered shorelines. Developed in partnership with California State Parks, these stations support flood forecasting, coastal management, scientific research, and public awareness.
